CCPO reviews police performance, takes action against under-performing SHOs

An important meeting held here on Friday with CCPO Peshawar Dr. Mian Saeed Ahmed in chair, reviewed police performance over the past four months and review progress on law and order initiatives across the district.
During the meeting which was held at Malik Saad Police Lines carried out a comparative analysis was conducted of actions taken against encroachment mafias, extortion, usury, street crime, drug peddlers, gambling networks, proclaimed offenders, and other elements involved in social evils.
A statement issued here stated that the capital police chief also reviewed search and strike operations, re-arrest of habitual criminals, and preventive measures adopted to maintain law and order.
As part of accountability measures, SHO Phandu Police Station was suspended on charges of corruption and public complaints. SHO Sharqi Police Station was suspended and closed to the police line due to poor performance, while SHO Peshtkhara Police Station was also closed to the police line and an inquiry was ordered. Additionally, show-cause notices were issued to SHOs of Khan Raziq Shaheed, Shaheed Gulfat Hussain, Agha Mir Jani Shah, Faqirabad, Tehkal, Nasir Bagh, and Urmar police stations, seeking explanations for unsatisfactory performance.
Addressing the meeting, CCPO Dr. Mian Saeed Ahmed emphasized that the policy of reward and punishment would be implemented strictly within the Capital City Police.
He said honesty, professionalism, and public service remain top priorities, adding that officers and personnel demonstrating outstanding performance would be duly encouraged and rewarded.
The meeting was attended by SSP Operations Farhan Khan, SSP Investigation Ayesha Gul, Commandant Campus Mujeeb-ur-Rehman, Divisional SPs, SDPOs, and SHOs.
The CCPO further directed that operations against land grabbing mafias, brothels, drug dealers, proclaimed offenders, gamblers, arms dealers, and those spreading immoral and obscene content on social media be accelerated. He added that a special campaign has been launched to tighten the noose around proclaimed offenders wanted in serious cases across the district.
He also issued instructions to enhance security at sensitive locations, ensure timely registration of FIRs, increase snap checking and patrolling in crime-prone areas, maintain cleanliness in police stations, complete records on time, and hold regular meetings with Police Liaison Committees (PLCs) and Dispute Resolution Councils (DRCs).
Practical steps were also ordered to eliminate the illegal jirga system.
Later, speaking at a prize distribution ceremony held at Malik Saad Shaheed Police Lines, CCPO Dr. Mian Saeed Ahmed reiterated that the protection of life and property of citizens is the foremost duty of the police and all available resources must be utilized to achieve this goal.
During the ceremony, cash prizes and certificates of appreciation were awarded to several officers and personnel for their exemplary performance, including SP City Division Shahid Adnan, DSP Yakkatoot Circle Saeed-ur-Rehman, DSP Investigation Khalid Khan, DSP City Circle Akhtar Hussain, DSP Finance Circle Inam Khan, SHO Yakkatoot Police Station Gulzar Khan, SHO Khazana Police Station Tariq Khan, SHO Khan Raziq Shaheed Police Station Riaz Afridi, Investigation Officer SI Naseem Akbar, ASI Alamzeb Khan, ASI Arshad Khan, Head Constable Intikhab Khan, and Constables Zarar and Farrakhan.
