Final witness summoned on Jan 20 in wheat scandal case

The Anti-Corruption Court in Peshawar has made progress in the wheat scandal case, recording the statements of seven witnesses during the latest hearing.
The final witness has been summoned for January 20.
The hearing was conducted by Judge Asif Rasheed of the Anti-Corruption Court Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday.
During the proceedings, the statement of Inquiry Officer, Nazir ur Rehman was officially recorded. The court has so far documented statements from seven witnesses in the case.
The prosecution informed the court that the accused include Muhammad Arshad, Muhammad Khalid, Qazi Junaid Bacha, Tila Muhammad, and Muhammad Atif. Another accused, Usman Abid Shah is still absconding.
All the accused were employees at the wheat storage warehouse in Azakhel, Nowshera.
According to the prosecution, the accused, in collaboration, embezzled 1,700 tons of wheat, causing a loss of approximately Rs. 200 million to the national exchequer. The Anti-Corruption Department’s auditor has been summoned as the final witness and is expected to record testimony on January 20.
