Finance committee urges unified platform for provincial financial data

A meeting of the Standing Committee of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on the Finance Department was held on Tuesday at the Provincial Assembly Secretariat in Peshawar.
The meeting was chaired by the Committee Chairman and Member of the Provincial Assembly, Arbab Muhammad Usman Khan.
Members of the committee Aurangzeb Khan, Ahmed Kundi, Munir Hussain, Sher Ali Afridi, Gropal Singh, Makhdoomzada Muhammad Aftab Haider, Askar Parvez, Nisar Baz, Ms. Amina Sardar, Ms. Shazia Tamas Khan, Ms. Sobia Shahid, and Ms. Madina Gul attended the meeting.
The meeting was also attended by the Secretary Finance, officials from the Law, Health, and Auqaf Departments, the Managing Director of the Bank of Khyber, and officers of the Provincial Assembly.
During the meeting, a detailed review was conducted of the actions taken by the Finance, Health, and Auqaf Departments in light of the previous directives issued on 9 September 2025, and explanations were sought on pending matters.
The Secretary Finance informed the committee that the current and development budgets of all provincial departments were available on the Finance Department’s website; however, the Committee Chairman directed that an effective system be devised to prominently present all provincial financial funds on a single comprehensive platform.
The Secretary Finance further stated that the major financial burden of reforms in the merged districts (former FATA) was impacting the provincial budget.
The Health Department presented complete budgetary details of Ayub Teaching Hospital, Abbottabad, while the Standing Committee sought detailed information on the province-wide revenue data. In response to a question by Member of the Provincial Assembly Nisar Baz, the Medical Superintendent of the Health Department provided the inquiry report against the relevant officers at DHQ Bajaur and complete information regarding the Sehat Sahulat Card. In reply to questions related to the NFC Award, the Finance Department presented clarifications, while Member of the Assembly Ms. Sobia Shahid demanded that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa be given a fair share in the NFC Award similar to Punjab and Sindh.
During the meeting, the Auqaf Department was asked to provide details regarding the solarization of various mosques across the province.
Ms. Amina Sardar directed the officials of the Bank of Khyber to provide complete details of loans, while Member of the Provincial Assembly Askar Parvez sought clarification from the Auqaf Department regarding compensation for the martyrs and injured of the suicide attack on a church in Peshawar.
At the conclusion of the meeting, recommendations were formulated on various matters, and the relevant departments were directed to present progress reports at the next meeting.
