Education minister chairs BoG meeting of APS Abbottabad

ABBOTTABAD
A meeting of the Board of Governors (BoG) of Abbottabad Public School, Abbottabad, was held under the chairmanship of the Provincial Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Arshad Ayub Khan.
During the meeting, School Principal Mr. Akhtar Ali Qureshi briefed the Board in detail on the institution’s overall performance, existing challenges, and proposed recommendations for the future. Members of the Board of Governors, along with Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad, Captain (Retd.) Sarmad Saleem Akram, was also in attendance.
The meeting approved the establishment of a Working Committee to further improve administrative affairs of the school, and its members were formally nominated. Emphasis was placed on holding Board of Governors meetings regularly and on schedule. The Provincial Minister was also briefed on the implementation status of decisions taken in previous meetings.
The school administration informed the meeting about the process of teachers’ promotions. The Board approved the establishment of IT and Artificial Intelligence (AI) labs to align students with modern educational requirements, along with the provision of development funds and solar infrastructure.
Addressing the meeting, Provincial Minister Arshad Ayub Khan stated that Abbottabad Public School must move towards self-reliance and meet its expenditures through its own resources. He emphasized the need to further enhance the school’s academic capacity and standards, and to increase student enrollment instead of relying on government resources.
The Provincial Minister clarified that institutions are run in accordance with policies and rules, not individual preferences, and therefore the school administration must ensure strict compliance with established policies. A detailed briefing was also given on audit paras during the meeting.
It was further decided that a meeting of the school’s Executive Committee would be convened to clarify certain matters, which would then be presented before the Board of Governors for approval.
