A meeting of the Standing Committee of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on Home and Tribal Affairs was held on Thursday at the Provincial Assembly Secretariat.
The meeting was chaired by Committee Chairman and Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA) Tariq Saeed, a handout said.
Committee members Iftikhar Ali Mashwani, Asif Khan, Farah Khan, Adnan Wazir, Ahmed Kundi, Makhdoomzada Muhammad Aftab Haider, Shahida Bibi, Sobia Shahid, Shazia Jadun, Faiza Malik, and former Deputy Speaker Mahmood Jan attended the meeting.
The Secretary Home and Tribal Affairs Department, along with representatives from the Law and Finance departments and relevant Provincial Assembly officials, was also present.
Responding to a call-attention notice by MPA Asif Khan, the Secretary Home informed the committee that financial assistance and compensation would be provided, in accordance with the law, to the families of martyrs and injured persons affected by bomb blasts in South Waziristan.
The committee chairman directed the Home Department to present a comprehensive report on pending compensation cases from all districts of the province at the next meeting.
In response to a query by former Deputy Speaker Mahmood Jan, senior police officials assured the committee that those involved in attacks on his family and local farmers would soon be arrested and brought to justice.
Replying to questions raised by MPA Adnan Wazir, officials stated that vacant posts in the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) would be re-advertised, and candidates who had previously passed the tests would be given preference in the retesting process.
They further informed the committee that Lower Kohistan currently has two police stations and five check-posts, adding that more would be established in view of the prevailing security situation.
Answering a question by MPA Shahida Bibi regarding a rape case in Tangi, Charsadda, police officials clarified that the accused had been arrested and the case is under trial in court.
In response to a query by MPA Ahmed Kundi, the Home Department stated that effective security arrangements are in place across the province for the protection of foreign nationals.
Meanwhile, replying to a question by MPA Farah Khan, police officials informed the committee that separate desks and lock-ups for women have been established in police stations in every district of the province, where female police personnel are performing their duties.
