Peshawar University Teachers Association (PUTA) has urged Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi to immediately approve an emergency bailout package of Rs1.5 billion for the University of Peshawar (UoP).
The association warned that the ongoing financial crunch had severely affected research activities, led to a decline in academic performance, and disrupted the smooth functioning of administrative affairs.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Minister, who is chancellor of the varsity, the teacher’s community stated that the university was currently unable to pay salaries, pensions, and pension commutations, causing serious financial hardship and anxiety among teaching and administrative staff.

It cautioned that failure to take immediate corrective measures could result in irreparable damage to the university’s academic reputation and institutional stability.
PUTA demanded the immediate release of the bailout package to clear employees’ dues and restore normal academic, research, and administrative operations at the university.
