LHC seeks reply from respondents on petition seeking ban on use of social media by children below 16 years

Lahore High Court (LHC) while hearing the petition seeking ban on use of social media by children below 16 years has sought reply from the respondents. The court has sought reply from PTA, ministry of law and justice and others. Chief Justice (CJ) LHC Aalia Neelum took up for hearing petition filed by a girl student of class -8. Shiza Qurashi advocate appeared on behalf of the petitioner Aaliya Saleem.
The counsel for the petitioner who is a girl student took the plea social media is leaving negative impact on mental, moral and educational flourishing.
It is responsibility of the state to ensure protection of basic rights of children.
The counsel raised the point use of tik tok and other social media leaves bad impact on the psychology of minor children. Ban be imposed on use of social by the children below the age of 16 years.
CJ LHC Aalia Neelum maintained this is matter of sensitive nature. All the respondents should file reply. This should be policy matter of the government too.
The court ordered all respondents including PTA to file parawise reply on February 10.
