The labour department on Thursday organized an open court (khuli kacheri) to ensure the prompt resolution of issues and effective redressal of complaints faced by the working laborers.
According to a statement, the open court was chaired by the Secretary Labour Department and Chairman Workers Welfare Board, Captain (R) Mian Adil Iqbal.
On the occasion, Secretary Workers Welfare Board Sher Alam Khan, Vice Commissioner ESSI Waseem Ahmad, Director Labour Tariq Khan, Director Works Asif Majeed, Director Medical, Deputy Director Works, along with other concerned officers of the Labour Department and Workers Welfare Board, were also present.
Secretary Labour announced that five children of workers will be awarded international educational scholarships each year, while ten children of workers will be provided opportunities annually to prepare for Civil Services examinations through the CSA Academy at government expense.
A large number of industrial workers, particularly women, participated in the open court and presented their issues directly before the administration.
On-the-spot instructions were issued to the relevant officers for the immediate resolution of their complaints.
Addressing the gathering, the Secretary Labour said that the welfare of the working class was the top priority of the provincial government.
During the open court, questions raised by the workers were addressed by the officers in a transparent, comprehensive, and satisfactory manner.
The participants expressed satisfaction over the people-friendly approach of the administration, timely actions, and prompt resolution of issues.
The holding of the open court reflects the strong commitment of the government to the welfare of the working class, transparent governance, and the immediate and effective resolution of public issues.
