The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Education Department has decided not to allow students from unregistered private schools to appear in Matric and Intermediate examinations.
According to official sources on Tuesday, the department has issued an official letter to the chairmen of all educational boards across the province. The letter states that under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Private Schools Regulatory Authority Act, registration of private schools is mandatory and students from unregistered institutions will not be granted admission for board examinations.
The Education Department further clarified that no educational board will be permitted to grant affiliation to any unregistered private school.
The letter revealed that 11,887 private schools in the province are currently registered with the Regulatory Authority.
Officials stated that due to unregistered schools, it has become difficult to accurately estimate the number of out-of-school children. Under the law, no school can be opened or operated without proper registration.
