A protest demo of Councilors was held at Baba-e-Khyber, Jamrud on Thursday against poor performance of Tehsil Municipal Authority (TMA).
Under the banner of Muttahida Azad Panel, the rally was organized that was attended by scores of village and neighborhood chairman and councilors.
The protestors holding placards inscribed with slogans in favor of their demands.
Speaking on the occasion head of Muttahida Azad Panel Shahid Khan, Chairman VC 10 Habib-ur –Rehman and Chairman VC 11 Irfan Afridi expressed their regret over the poor performance of the TMA, Jamrud and said it failed to provide basic municipal facilities to the residents.
Because of the inefficiency of the TMA, the citizens were deprived of the sanitary and other related services, they remarked.
They added that TMA, Jamrud should present the last eight years audit report in the Tehsil Council and the department should be made accountable to the council.
The local government representatives disapproved the recruitment of non-locals in the TMA, Jamrud that caused anxiety to spread among the youth community and urged them to prefer the local youths while hiring staff.
Submission of daily wagers and permanent staff list in the Tehsil Councils was also stressed and asked for immediate transfer of the allegedly corrupt TOR from Jamrud TMA.
They advised permanent posting of Tehsil Municipal Officer (TMO) in Jamrud to improve the competence of it.
The participants also came hard on the care- taker Tehsil Chairman of Jamrud Council and said he did nothing for the wellbeing of the masses and asked forthwith conduction of by-election to elect a competent chairman.
If their demands were not addressed, they would extend their agitation to streets and roads, they threatened.
