Kohat
Following the tragic killing of Lady Doctor Mehwish Hasnain of Divisional Headquarters Hospital Kohat, a high-level emergency meeting was convened at the Commissioner’s office in Kohat. Provincial Law Minister Aftab Alam, Health Minister Khaliq-ur-Rehman, Special Assistant on Information Shafi Jan, Chairman DDAC Daud Afridi MPA, Commissioner Kohat Division Syed Motasim Billah Shah, Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Nawaz Wazir, DHQ Hospital administration and leaders of the Insaf Doctors Forum attended the session.
The meeting was told that all suspects involved in the killing have been arrested and legal proceedings are being fast-tracked.
The provincial ministers emphasized that justice will be ensured at all costs, warning that any negligence or lapse would not be tolerated. They vowed that the perpetrators would face the strictest legal punishment, sending a clear message to deter future crimes.
The government also expressed full solidarity with the family of the deceased and the health community, pledging strict enforcement of the law. Security arrangements at the hospital were also reviewed and enhanced protective measures for doctors and healthcare staff were announced to ensure their safety.
