Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education Arshad Ayub Khan on Wednesday directed all educational boards to ensure provision of basic facilities to students and maintain complete transparency during the matriculation examinations commencing from March 31.
Chairing a meeting in Peshawar on preparations for the exams, the minister instructed chairmen of all Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISEs) to establish public complaint portals in their respective districts for prompt redressal of students’ issues. He also ordered the setting up of a central control room at the office of the secretary for elementary and secondary education.
Officials, including Secretary Elementary and Secondary Education Muhammad Khalid, Special Secretary Iftikhar Ali Khan, and board chairmen from across the province, attended the meeting, with several joining online.
Board representatives briefed participants on their preparedness, stating that examinations would be conducted under a “100 per cent transparent system,” with the use of modern technology such as e-paper and e-marking. They added that enhanced security arrangements had been made for sensitive examination centres.
The meeting was informed that transport facilities would be arranged for students facing difficulties in reaching examination centres. In addition, surveillance cameras would be installed in examination halls and linked to the internet for monitoring.
The minister emphasised that ensuring transparent and fair conduct of exams was the responsibility of board authorities, directing them to take all necessary steps to curb cheating. He announced a complete ban on the use of mobile phones during examinations and said inspection teams would be constituted to monitor the process.
Mr Khan further stressed the need for “foolproof arrangements” to safeguard students’ academic year, adding that exams must be conducted in line with government standard operating procedures to ensure a clean and credible process.
