People now can file petition in Punjab Assembly (PA) on important matters.
The petition should bear signatures of at least 200 people. Scrutiny Committee (SC) will compile recommendations and form can be obtained from PA official website.
As per media reports, speaker PA Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan has constituted a special committee for scrutiny of public petitions for presenting the problems facing the people in the house.
Assembly secretariat has issued formal notification in this regard.
According to notification common man now can file petition in PA. However the petitions must bear signatures of 200 persons. Public matters of paramount significance can be presented in the assembly through petition.
This procedure will provide opportunity to common man to participate in the process of legislation direct.
Deputy speaker will head the scrutiny committee. The committee will review the public petitions and evolve its recommendations within 30 days and present them to speaker PA. Later the relevant matters will be moved forward for further proceedings.
Form for filing public petition will be available at official website of PA.
