Deputy Commissioner Captain (retd) Sanaullah Khan on Friday directed all relevant departments to adopt a coordinated and practical strategy for dengue prevention, warning that negligence in anti-dengue measures would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
A high-level meeting regarding the dengue situation, preventive measures and control strategy was held under the chairmanship of the deputy commissioner in light of directives issued by the provincial government.
The meeting was attended by public representatives, administrative officers and officials from the health, local government, education, livestock and other concerned departments.
The meeting reviewed in detail the dengue situation in the district, reported cases, identified hotspots and preventive measures taken during 2025. Officials also analyzed available data while taking into consideration the experiences and lessons learned from the previous year.
A detailed discussion was held on advance preparations for the ongoing year’s dengue campaign, with special emphasis on strengthening surveillance, larva control, fogging operations, public awareness campaigns and inter-departmental coordination.
All departments were directed to ensure timely implementation of preventive measures under a coordinated strategy in accordance with their respective responsibilities.
Addressing the participants, DC Peshawar Captain (retd) Sanaullah Khan said all institutions must work jointly to prevent the spread of dengue and ensure effective implementation of field operations. He stressed that practical performance in the field would be monitored closely.
He also appealed to citizens to keep their homes and surroundings clean, avoid stagnant water and fully cooperate with the district administration to help curb the spread of dengue.
The district administration reiterated its commitment to utilizing all available resources, with public cooperation, to protect human lives and effectively control dengue in the district.
