Pakistan receives $1.3b tranche from IMF: SBP

SBP says IMF Executive Board has also approved disbursement of second tranche of SDR 154 million under RSF
KARACHI
State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has received around $1.3 billion from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Through a statement , SBA while making confirmation of receiving $1.3 billion said amount has been transferred under FF and RSF Program.
According to statement IMF had given approval to transfer this amount in its third review meeting under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) on May 8.
Disbursement of second tranche of SDR 154 million under the Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF) has also been approved.
The IMF Executive Board completed third review under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) in its meeting held on 08 May 2026, and approved disbursement of SDR 760 million for Pakistan.
SBP has received 914 million SDR . The received amount will be included in foreign exchange reserves rather than in Pakistani rupee. This amount will be reflected in the foreign exchange reserves for the week ending May 15,
2026. This amount will prop up Pakistan foreign exchange reserves.
Under the existing program, overall 4.6 billion dollars have been released to Pakistan.
