Mardan
KHAGARAH Development Organization (KDO), under the leadership of MERF, organized a two-day capacity-building training for its male and female Community Outreach Workers to prepare them for the upcoming HPV vaccination campaign in District Mardan.
The training focused on Human Papillomavirus (HPV), cervical cancer prevention, HPV vaccination, and effective community engagement. Participants received practical training on micro-planning, community mobilization, Social and Behavior Change Communication (SBCC), and strategies to address myths, misconceptions, and vaccine hesitancy.
They were also trained on engaging parents, teachers, religious leaders, and other community stakeholders to promote HPV vaccination among girls aged 9–14 years.
On the first day, the District Health Officer (DHO) Mardan addressed the participants and highlighted the importance of strengthening the capacity of frontline workers for the successful implementation of the HPV vaccination programme.
On the second day, the District Coordinator EPI Mardan conducted a technical session on micro-planning, identification of target populations, and coordination for effective vaccine rollout.
Under the project, KDO will implement community engagement activities across 21 Union Councils of District Mardan. The initiative aims to raise awareness among people, engage community members, and support the identification of eligible girls for HPV vaccination through coordinated outreach and awareness activities.
Speaking on the occasion, KDO representatives reaffirmed their commitment to working closely with the Health Department, EPI, schools, religious leaders, and local communities to improve awareness and ensure the successful implementation of the HPV vaccination programme, contributing to the prevention of cervical cancer among adolescent girls.
