Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi on Thursday visited Lower Dir to inquire after police personnel injured in a militant attack a day earlier and assured them of the government’s full support. Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Hameed accompanied the chief minister during the visit, according to a statement issued from CM Secretariat .
The statement stated that the chief minister met the injured policemen under treatment, inquired about their condition and reviewed the medical facilities being provided to them. He directed the relevant authorities to ensure uninterrupted access to the best possible treatment and emphasised that no negligence should be tolerated in their care. Afridi expressed best wishes for the early recovery of the injured personnel and paid tribute to the sacrifices made by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police in the fight against militancy.
He said the police force had rendered invaluable sacrifices for the restoration of peace and the protection of lives and property, adding that those sacrifices would always be remembered with respect.
The chief minister said the families of martyred policemen and injured personnel would be provided every possible assistance and facility. He reiterated that the government would not leave its martyrs and those wounded in the line of duty unsupported and would utilise all available resources for their welfare.
Mr Afridi said the fight against terrorism would continue with full resolve until the menace was eliminated, adding that acts of violence would not weaken the determination of the government, police or the people, the statement added.
