Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister Shafi Jan on Friday directed officials to expedite ongoing development projects in Kohat and ensure their completion within stipulated deadlines to improve public services and provide basic facilities to residents.
He issued the directives while chairing a meeting of heads of relevant government departments at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office. Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Nawaz Wazir and other senior officials attended the meeting, said a handout.
The meeting reviewed progress on new and ongoing development schemes in the district and discussed measures relating to public welfare and service delivery in various sectors.
Officials briefed the minister on the status of development projects and the provision of public services.
Mr Jan said timely completion of public-interest schemes was among the government’s priorities and directed departments to fulfil their responsibilities efficiently.
He called for avoiding unnecessary delays and completing ongoing projects on a priority basis.
The minister also stressed the need for stronger monitoring to ensure quality construction and timely execution of development schemes.
He said public funds were being spent on development projects and it was the responsibility of the relevant departments to ensure that their benefits reached people without unnecessary delay.
The meeting also discussed measures to address public grievances and improve government service delivery.
Mr Jan directed officials to strengthen coordination among departments and establish an effective mechanism for resolving public complaints.
He said the purpose of development activities was not merely to complete projects but to improve living standards and provide better facilities to citizens.
The minister urged all departments to improve their performance and keep public interest at the centre of their activities.
