Chief Justice of Pakistan, in his capacity as Chairman of the National Judicial (Policy Making) Committee (NJPMC), on Friday held a consultative meeting with representatives of the Punjab Bar Council and Islamabad Bar Council at the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
The meeting was part of the ongoing consultation process aimed at developing a uniform and standardized national e-filing framework for the Supreme Court, High Courts and District Courts.
Representatives of the Punjab Bar Council, including Fakhar Hayat Awan, Faisal Malik, Ch. Qaisar Mushtaq and Shahid Mahmood Abbassi, and Islamabad Bar Council members, including Vice Chairman Ch. Asif Irfan, Executive Committee Chairman Muhammad Zafar Khokhar, Disciplinary Committee Chairman Raja M. Aleem Khan Abbasi, Ch. Hafeez Ullah Yaqub and Abdul Rahman Hur Bajwa, attended the meeting.
Punjab Bar Council Executive Committee Chairman Ch. Arshad Ali Hanjra participated through Zoom.
The participants were briefed on the proposed National Standardized E-Filing System, envisaged as a structured, intelligent and rules-compliant platform aligned with the procedural and legal requirements governing judicial proceedings.
The initiative is part of the judiciary’s broader reform agenda to leverage technology for modernizing court processes, enhancing efficiency and transparency, improving predictability and making justice more accessible and responsive to litigants and lawyers.
The Chair emphasized that the Bar, being the primary user of the proposed framework, was a key partner in developing standardized e-filing templates and ensuring their successful implementation across all levels of the judiciary.
The representatives of the Punjab and Islamabad Bar Councils welcomed the initiative and offered practical suggestions regarding standardized templates, electronic case records, digital submission of documents, case tracking, technical support and training, digital infrastructure and data security.
It was decided that a committee comprising the Registrars of all High Courts and two members nominated by each Provincial Bar Council and the Islamabad Bar Council would review and finalize the standardized e-filing templates.
After finalization, the templates would be placed before the NJPMC for consideration and policy directions.
