PESHAWAR
Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Sunday paid rich tribute to the martyrs and veterans of Pakistan on the occasion of Defence Day, saying September 6 symbolized the nation’s courage, unity and unwavering commitment to safeguarding the country’s sovereignty.
In his message issued on Defence Day, the Governor said September 6 was a historic day that reminded the nation of the supreme sacrifices rendered by the brave sons of the soil during the 1965 war in defence of the motherland.
He said the day reflected not only the unmatched bravery and sacrifices of the armed forces but also the unity, determination and resilience of the entire nation.
Governor Kundi paid homage to all martyrs who laid down their lives for the defence and security of Pakistan and praised the services of the veterans.
He said the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had always stood shoulder to shoulder with the country’s armed forces and played a vital role in defending the nation.
He said whether it was the 1965 war, last year’s effective response to Indian aggression, the fight against terrorism or efforts to overcome natural disasters, the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the security institutions had consistently demonstrated remarkable courage, sacrifice and commitment.
The Governor said the successful response to last year’s Indian aggression and the victory in Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos reflected the professionalism, determination and bravery of Pakistan’s security forces.
He said Defence Day reminded every citizen that the defence of Pakistan was not the sole responsibility of the armed forces but a shared national duty.
He urged the nation to renew its pledge to confront internal and external challenges with unity and continue working for the country’s security, progress and prosperity.
