LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q) President, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain Sunday said that there is no need for reconciliation between Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and former President Asif Ali Zardari as both are on the same page. He said nothing came out of his meetings with the PPP co chairman and JUI(F) chief, Fazlur Rehman.
Addressing a press conference at his residence here alongwith Chaudhry Pervez Elahi former Punjab Chief Minister, Chaudhry Shujaat said all the opposition parties will have to agree for the formation of a grand alliance for the next elections with sincerity of purpose rather than personal benefits.
He said the PML-Q was starting the reorganisation of the party from Rawalpindi. He was of the opinion that other political parties would need the backing of his party in the next general elections as they have massive following among the masses.
The PML-Q chief said only time will tell whether Imran Khan and Asif Zardari can sit together or remain apart.
In reply to a question about Javed Hashmi’s disclosures, Ch Shujaat Hussain said judiciary should be spared from politics and allowed to carry out its functions. He said they did not hear from any one about the judicial martial and emphasised that conspiracy is one that succeeds.
He said it is upto the election commission to decide about next elections.
Former Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi said Punjab government has filed in every field and its performance in the last 9 years was zero. He said it delayed the local govt elections and claimed that the Chief Minister would not devolve powers to the district governments.
Chaudhry Parvez Elahi said that the PML-Q polled more votes in 2008 than PML-N and PPP. He alleged that the 2013 election was of former COAS General Kayani and former Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry. According to him Kayani under a conspiracy got the PML-N elected on most seats to please Nawaz Sharif.
He said the Panamaleaks case is before the judiciary and it should be left to the court.
