ACE recovers Rs7.3m in Swabi construction irregularities

The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday claimed to have recovered Rs7.3 million from an executive engineer and contractor involved in irregularities during the construction of a government school in Swabi district. The recovered amount has been deposited into the government treasury.
According to an official handout, the case originated from a complaint received by ACE regarding embezzlement of funds and construction irregularities in the Government Girls High School Hamlet, Tehsil Topi, Swabi.
Following a detailed investigation by ACE’s Special Investigation Wingit was revealed that the project included the construction of **nine classrooms, five washrooms, stairs to the first floor, a solar system, and external electrification.
However, upon physical inspection, only seven classrooms were completed, while the other facilities, including washrooms, stairs, and electrical systems, were missing, the statement said.
The inquiry determined the total financial loss to the government as Rs 7,347,879, which has now been fully recovered and returned to the national exchequer.
ACE continues to take action against corruption to ensure transparency and accountability in public projects.
