ISLANMABAD: Associate of Electronic Media Editors and News Directors (AEMEND) has rejected the ban imposed by PEMRA on broadcasting live and recorded speeches, statements and talks of PTI chairman Imran Khan by all satellite TV channels. According to AEMEND slapping ban on broadcasting of Imran Khan statements is violation of constitutional rights. The constitution allows freedom of speech and expression in line with legal norms. It is binding on TV channels to abide by PEMRA laws. Providing access to information to the people is also their responsibility. AEMEND says an institutional mechanism of all TV channels is in place. The law is there if any negligence has been committed deliberately or unintentionally. Barring the channels from broadcasting speech or talks of any political leader is illegal. PEMRA should respect freedom for expression, AEMEND added. Online
