The UNHCR Afghan Refugee Futsal Tournament kicked off at the Hayatabad Sports Complex in Peshawar with close proximity.
Director Youth Education, Ehsanullah Khan was the chief guest at the inaugural match while Fakhr Khan, Director Rafsar Ali and other senior officials were also present on the occasion. Competing in Group A, Bannu and Kohat played a very good and quality game.
However, Bannu’s team consisted of some very good and talented players who took full advantage of the situation by scoring five goals in match three.
The competition will continue for three days. In his address at the inaugural ceremony, Ehsanullah said that UNHCR and the Afghan Commissionerate in Peshawar have been working with the Afghan refugee youth in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for years to participate in healthy activities and hone their God-gifted abilities as well as introduce them to the world.
The Afghan Refugee Futsal Tournament is a great initiative and we are trying to hold more sports competitions on a regular basis,” he said. Thanks to the efforts of Abbas Khan, we have organised various competitions including football, martial arts and women’s cricket and many more competitions have been planned for Afghan Refugees Youth.
