Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi on Wednesday formally launched the street movement for the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s (PTI) September 27 long march from Khyber, vowing to take the campaign to Islamabad.
Addressing participants of a rally at the historic Bab-i-Khyber, the chief minister said the people of Khyber had set the long march, adding the movement was aimed at securing the release of PTI founder Imran Khan, ensuring equal application of the law to the powerful and the weak, and holding those responsible for injustice accountable.
Mr Afridi called on the youth to play a leading role in the movement, saying September 27 would provide them with an opportunity to “change their history and destiny” and work towards changing Pakistan. Paying tribute to the people of Khyber, he praised the participants for walking nearly 30 kilometres.
