PESHAWAR: Awami National Party (ANP) leader Aimal Wali Khan has criticized the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government over its handling of the recent flash floods in Swat, terming the disaster a “murder” rather than an “accident.” In a statement, Aimal Wali questioned the provincial government’s failure to take timely preventive measures despite advance warnings issued by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). “When the federal government had already issued an alert, why were no safety measures taken?” he asked. He also criticized the delayed rescue response, asking, “Why were the people trapped in floodwaters not rescued in time?” Directing sharp remarks at the province’s emergency response capabilities, he questioned the effectiveness of Rescue 1122, saying, “Is the machinery of Rescue 1122 only meant for Islamabad?” The ANP leader described the situation in KP as a “severe administrative crisis” and blamed the “incompetent” Chief Minister and those he said had imposed him on the province. According to Aimal, government negligence and inefficiency directly contributed to the scale of the tragedy. DLP Report
