Zone One set a good example by organizing tournament in the name of Test Umpire Riazuddin. Riazuddin has many services in Umpiring which will always be remembered, expressed these views Touseef Siddiqui Acting Secretary Regional Cricket Association Karachi Addressing the Closing Ceremony of Riazuddin Memorial Cricket Tournament Organized by Zone One in the name of late Riazuddin.
He further said that I had a relationship with Riaz from the beginning and he always Cooperate with the Association in organizing Tournaments.
On this occasion, President of the ceremony Khalid Nafees Chairman Tournament Committee RCAK in his Speech paid tribute to Riazuddin’s services in umpiring and said that he performed umpiring duties not only in Pakistan but also in Bangladesh Premier league.
He said that we will continue our efforts for the promotion of Cricket under the leadership of Nadeem Omar.
Secretary Zone-I Arif Waheed presented the report of the tournament and said that Zone-I earlier also organized Tournaments in the names of Asif Mehmood and Naveed Mehboob Azmi before this and will continue work for the Promotion of cricket in the zone in future as well.
Earlier in the final played at TMC Ground, Airport Gymkhana defeated Liaquatabad Eaglets by 8th wickets. Liaquatabad Eaglets batting first scored 258/3 in allotted 40 overs. Taha Mehmood scoed dashing unbeaten 103 with the help of 7 fours and 9 sixes, Farmanullah 74 with the help of 8 fours one six and Noman Ali scored 41 runs.
In reply Airport Gymkhana scored 262/2 in 37.1 overs Umair Sheikh scored brilliant unbeaten 104 with the help of 8 fours one six, Alman Shafiq 77 with the help of 7 fours one six and Bahadur Ali also unbeaten 60 with the help of 7 fours and one six.
At the end Chief Guest Touseef Siddiqui and President of the ceremony Khalid Nafees Distributed the Prizes among the players. Winner trophy was received by Airport Gymkhana Skipper Zubair Dilawar and runner trophy was received by Liaquatabad Eaglets Captain Taha Mehmood.
The ceremony was also attended by Assistant Secretary Wisal Ansari, Zone-I President Ajmal Naseeb, Zone-VII President Mazhar Ali Awan, Zone-I Treasurer Tariq Hafeez, Media Coordinator Dr Arif Hafeez, Coach Tahir Mehmood,Wasimuddin, Shahroz Alvi and other dignitaries.
