Sindh Provincial Minister for Works & Services and Prisons, Ali Hassan Zardari, announced that the long-awaited District Jail Thatta will be inaugurated on September 1 by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah.
The minister made the announcement during a surprise visit to the jail site, where he inspected ongoing construction and reviewed final preparations. He said the new facility will be fully equipped with modern amenities, ending the need for prisoners from Thatta to be transported to courts in Hyderabad and Badin—a practice that wasted both time and resources.
“With this jail operational, we will save precious time and reduce unnecessary expenses,” Zardari said, adding that the project is in its final stages and will be ready before the inauguration date.
Officials briefed the minister on the progress of development works, which he personally inspected during his visit.
