Another petition has been filed in Supreme Court (SC) against 26th constitutional amendment.
All political parties including PML-N and PPP have been made respondents in the petition.
The petition against 26th constitutional amendment has been filed by Afrasyab Khattak.
The petitioner has taken the plea inquiry be held into it whether the members of assembly cast vote in favor of 26th constitutional amendment voluntarily or under coercion. SC should either conduct inquiry on its own or it should get hold inquiry through Judicial Commission (JC) on the matter of pressurizing the members of assembly.
The resolution on 26th constitutional amendment has not been approved in correct way. The election disputes of members of assembly are pending in Election tribunal
The petitioner requested the court to reject the 26th constitutional amendment by declaring it against the independence of judiciary.
The independence of judiciary is basic structure of the constitution. Review of annual performance of judges, change in the procedure in appointment of chief justice and constitution of constitutional benches run contrary to the independence of the judiciary.
