PESHAWAR
The Awami National Party (ANP) announced its participation in the Pakistan People Party (PPP) long march towards Islamabad on February 27.
This was announced by ANP Secretary General here on Monday at Bacha Khan Markaz in presence of
PPP delegation led by Syed Khurshid Shah.
The former leader of opposition in the National Assembly, visited Bacha Khan Markaz Peshawar.
He was received by ANP Secretary General Mian Iftikhar Hussain, Senator Haji Hidayatullah Khan and other leaders.
The PPP delegation included provincial president Najamuddin Khan, provincial information secretary Amjad Afridi and others. Talking to media after the meeting, Mian Iftikhar Hussain said that ANP would support all kinds of constitutional measures against the present government.
The ANP has decided to participate in the PPP’s long march, he added.
Addressing a press conference at Bacha Khan Markaz Peshawar, ANP Secretary General Mian Iftikhar Hussain along with PPP leader and Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khurshid Shah and other leaders alleged that the present government was the most the most corrupt government.
The report of Transparency International has exposed the incumbent government and its policies ANP lader said.
Mian Iftikhar said that ANP was not ready to accept this government from day first as he accused it for stealing public mandate in the last elections.
The ANP demands that the current government be overthrown and that fresh and transparent elections be held in the country.
Regarding the incidents of terrorism in the country, Mian Iftikhar Hussain said that terrorist organizations have been organized all over the country.
Terrorist activities are also taking place in the capital Islamabad including Balochistan and KP, adding that people are being intimidated in the name of ISIS and police and other personnel including the general public are being targeted.
The increase in the incidence of terrorism was due to the lack of seriousness and incompetence of the present government, he claimed.
Talking to media, PPP leader Syed Khurshid Shah PPP has decided to hold a long march against the present government which will start from Karachi on February 27. To a question he shared that the no-confidence motion will be decided after reaching Islamabad.
He said that those who considered the opposition as weak would be given a full answer from the Long March, adding that all democratic forces should be part of the struggle against this `illegitimate´ government.
“We will continue our struggle against the present government while abiding by the constitution. We demand that the Prime Minister resign and go home and put an end to the fake government,” Khurshid Shah added.
