Awami National Party (ANP) chief Asfandyar Wali Khan heavily criticized former Prime Minister Imran Khan after the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) ruled that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has received funding from prohibited foreign companies and other personalities.
In a statement issued from Bacha Khan Markaz here on Tuesday, the central president of ANP Asfandyar Wali Khan said that the federal government should take stern action against PTI chairman Imran Khan for receiving funds from foreigner, adding that the ECP decision proved yet again that Imran Khan was ‘certified liar’.
“The Election Commission has proved that not only prohibited funds have been received but false affidavits were submitted and accounts were also hidden by former Prime Minister Imran Khan,” he added.
Berating the PTI in his statement following the judgment, Mr Asfandyar hoped that further action will be completed according to the constitution and law.
Reacting to the Election Commission’s decision on the prohibited funding of PTI, Mr Khan said that submitting a false affidavit proved that the head of a political party had lied.
Hailing the ECP’s verdict in the PTI funding case, ANP senior leader Asfandyar Wali said the judgment has proved Imran Khan was the biggest liar and it was necessary that Article 62, 63 should be applied indiscriminately.
The ANP chief said that receiving funds from foreign companies was a violation of the Election Act 2017.
“A former prime minister was disqualified for not receiving salary, now it has been proven that he is lying,” he added.
He hoped that the federal government would fulfill its responsibility in the light of this decision and action would be taken against PTI and its leadership for receiving prohibited funds from foreign countries.
