Awami National Party (ANP) Provincial President Mian Iftikhar Hussain has condemned the continued failure of state institutions to arrest the killers of party leaders, saying this silence raises serious questions.
Speaking at Bacha Khan Markaz, he said Maulana Khanzeb Shaheed, a thinker, scholar, and peace advocate, was martyred, yet his killers remain at large. Similarly, ANP leader Jafar Khan was slain in Kabal, Swat, but no one has been brought to justice.
“The state’s silence is unacceptable. If the killers are not arrested, ANP will raise its voice on every platform,” he warned, vowing not to back down until the perpetrators were unmasked.
Hussain noted that ANP has sacrificed over 1,200 lives for peace, but continues to face injustice.
During a meeting with a delegation led by Bajaur ANP President Gul Afzal, MPA Nisar Baz, and Shah Naseer Khan, the current political and regional situation in Bajaur, displacement due to recent unrest, and flood-related challenges were discussed.
Mian Iftikhar demanded immediate return and compensation for displaced families and flood victims, particularly in Salarzai. He called for emergency work on infrastructure and compensation for damaged crops and homes, warning that no negligence would be tolerated.
He reiterated ANP’s commitment to stand by the people of Bajaur and tribal areas, pledging continued political and legal struggle if the federal and provincial governments fail to fulfill their responsibilities.
