PESHAWAR
Awami National Party (KP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) president Aimal Wali Khan said on Tuesday that despite repeated violations of code of conduct and systematic propaganda the party’s victory in 17 districts was encouraging.
In a statement issued from Bacha Khan Markaz Peshawar, Aimal Wali Khan said that the results of the elections were against our expectations.
Aimal Khan said that two members of ANP were killed in elections, adding that local body polls reactivated all political parties and involved them in politics.
He said that development and prosperity was impossible without peace and the party will continue its practical struggle for peace.
The provincial president claimed that attacks on ANP workers and leaders aimed to give the impression that their lives were in danger.
Aimal Wali Khan said the election was also influenced by the situation in Afghanistan and a particular religious party took advantage of it.
We will win or lose but we will stand by the statement of peace for the survival of this land and nation, he added.
He said that ANP is a party that believes in peace and people now know who wants violence while who is a partner of peace.
The provincial president said that a video of the father of a candidate in Peshawar came to light in which he was openly saying that he had invested Rs 200 million.
In Peshawar, the ANP fought alone for Rs 200 million, through three parties and a government worker, and garnered more than 50,000 votes.
It is the misfortune of Pakistani politics that the glitter of rupee still dominates politics, he added.
We congratulate the winning candidates and hope that they will serve the people of their area to the fullest, he said.
