The authorities concerned have demolished illegal encroachments in Charsadda, Nowshera and Lower Dir as part of an ongoing province-wide crackdown, including in the provincial capital, Peshawar.
In Charsadda the district administration conducted an anti-encroachment operation in Tehsil Shabqadar on the directives of the deputy commissioner. Temporary and permanent encroachments were removed to facilitate the public and widen roads.
The administration said strict implementation of standard operating procedures was underway to prevent encroachments, improve cleanliness and ensure smooth traffic flow. Citizens were urged not to rebuild illegal structures and to cooperate in keeping the city clean and organised.
In Nowshera, operations are continuing in markets across all three tehsils under the directions of the governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the deputy commissioner.
A large-scale operation was carried out in Risalpur, Pabbi and Tehsil Jahangira under the supervision of assistant commissioners. Police, district administration and Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) staff jointly participated, using heavy machinery to clear roads and public passageways.
Officials said efforts were also underway to improve the appearance of cleared areas. The campaign aims to ease traffic congestion and provide better access to public spaces.
Meanwhile, the Pakhtunkhwa Highways Authority, in coordination with the Lower Dir district administration, removed illegal encroachments from Asbanr Bazaar along the Gul Abad–Sar Bala Road.
The operation targeted structures occupying the provincial highway’s right-of-way to ensure smooth traffic movement and protect the road boundaries.
Local residents cooperated with the authorities and requested proper demarcation of the road boundaries. They assured officials that any remaining encroachments would be voluntarily removed within three days after the demarcation process is completed.
Authorities said anti-encroachment operations would continue across the province to restore public spaces, improve traffic flow and ensure compliance with regulations.
