Anti-Polio campaign kicks off in Tank

Deputy Commissioner Tank Arshad Qayyum Burki formally inaugurated the five-day anti-polio campaign during which he symbolically vaccinated the first child of the drive.
The campaign will be carried out from March 14 to March 18. The inauguration ceremony was also attended by Commanding Officer 25 Sindh Regiment Lieutenant Colonel Sher Alam Khan, District Health Officer Dr. Sher Khan Afridi, Polio Focal Person Dr. Arshad Nawaz, Line Officer Sharifullah Khan.
Addressing the ceremony, DC Tank said that eradication of polio was a national responsibility for which writers, scholars and parents including civil society have to play their role, adding that so that the society can be protected from the hazards effects of polio. He said police and security forces will provide full proof security during the campaign to ensure immunization of all the kids under age five in the city. He expressed strong resolve that no children would be left out from the polio vaccines.
Burki said that more than 86,000 children in Tank and sub-division Jandola will be vaccinated. He said that a total 537 health teams have been formed for the purpose. DC Tank said that Pakistan Army, FC South and District Police have finalized a full proof security arrangements for the polio campaign.
