A week-long anti-polio campaign kicked off in Peshawar on October 28, aiming to immunize 865,755 children and bring the city closer to eradicating polio.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sarmad Salim Akram inaugurated the campaign by administering polio drops to children and visiting health centers and neighborhoods to monitor efforts and engage with parents on the importance of vaccination.
Addressing parents, Akram emphasized that polio vaccination is essential not only for their children’s health but also for the well-being of the entire society. He urged parents to actively participate in the campaign to help eliminate polio.
The DC Peshawar praised the dedication of polio teams, acknowledging their efforts as crucial to achieving a polio-free Peshawar. Strict safety measures are in place, ensuring teams reach every area to vaccinate children. He appealed to the public for their full cooperation in protecting children from this preventable disease.
Sarmad Saleem Akram emphasized the collective responsibility in eradicating polio, stressing the importance of parental cooperation for a successful campaign. He made a heartfelt appeal to parents to ensure their children receive the polio vaccine, stating that their involvement is crucial in achieving a polio-free society.
He also assured that strict safety protocols would be followed throughout the campaign, with vaccination teams reaching every street and neighborhood to administer the polio drops and protect children from this preventable disease.
