The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has warned that the worsening situation in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir requires immediate global attention before it spirals out of control, describing the region as a dangerous nuclear flashpoint in South Asia.
According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas, in a statement issued in Srinagar, said the Modi regime is determined to crush the Kashmiri people’s legitimate struggle for freedom through brute force and draconian laws.
He stressed that ignoring the Kashmir dispute serves no one’s interests and that continued delay in its resolution carries serious regional and global consequences.
The APHC spokesman emphasized that Kashmir is not India’s internal matter but a long-standing international dispute with grave implications for regional peace.
He warned that the militaristic policies of the Modi government are pushing South Asia toward instability and that an unresolved Kashmir issue could potentially ignite a nuclear crisis.
Minhas called upon the United Nations and the international community to urgently intervene to resolve the Kashmir dispute in accordance with UN resolutions and to avert a possible regional catastrophe.
He strongly condemned India’s use of black laws, including the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), Disturbed Areas Act, Public Safety Act (PSA), and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), to suppress the Kashmiri people’s demand for a plebiscite.
He further alleged that Indian military, paramilitary, and police forces, operating with impunity under these laws, are committing serious human rights violations amounting to crimes against humanity.
These violations include extrajudicial killings, arbitrary arrests, torture, cordon-and-search operations, house raids, property attachment, and harassment of women, aimed at intimidating the Kashmiri population into submission.
