LAHORE: Appointment of deputy prime minister Ishaq Dar has been challenged in Lahore High Court (LHC). Federal government and others have been made respondents in the petition filed in LHC. The petition said there is no post of deputy prime minister in the constitution of Pakistan. Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif appointed Ishaq Dar as deputy prime minister in repugnant of constitution. The petition further said deputy prime minister is considered “Naib” of PM of Pakistan. PM is elected by members of National assembly through voting. Ishaq Dar cannot become deputy prime minister being Senator. The petitioner further took the plea privileges and perks of deputy prime minister have been given to foreign minister Ishaq Dar illegally. The court was requested to declare null and void appointment of Ishaq Dar as deputy prime minister. Ishaq Dar be stopped from working as deputy prime minister till the decision of this petition. It is pertinent to mention here that PM Shehbaz Sharif had appointed foreign minister Ishaq Dar as deputy prime minister in April 2014. Online
