LAHORE: The approver has retracted his statement against Prime Minister (PM) Shahbaz Sharif in cross questioning during the hearing of Ashiana iqbal reference. Ashiana Iqbal reference against PM Shahbaz Sharif and others came up for hearing before Judge Sajid Ali Awan of Accountability Cour t (AC) No 5 here Saturday. NAB approver Col (Retd) Arif Majid gave clean chit to PM Shahbaz Sharif during the hearing of the case. The approver Israr Saeed said in the court Shahbaz Sharif has no role in this case. The then chairman NAB, DG NAB and others took this statement. He further said the then NAB officers gave me written pages that I should give this statement in the court. The cross questioning of the lawyers on the statements of the approves Israr Saeed and Col (Retd) Arif Majid was completed. Lawyers Amjid Pervez, Qazi Misbah ul Hassan and others completed their cross questioning on the approver. The approvers said before the court they had become approvers and given statements due to NAB officers pressure. Hussain appeared on behalf of PM Shahbaz Sharif for attendance. It may be mentioned the court has given exemption from attendance to Fawad Hassan Fawad, principal secretary of former PM Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif. During the course of hearing of the case the co-accused Nadim Zia Pirzada, Kamran Kayani and others appeared in the court. The court adjourned the hearing of the case till March 04. DNA
