Arms dealers protest against sealing of their business in Jamrud

A protest demonstration against sealing of their business center was held here in Wazirdand, subdivision Jamrud on Tuesday.
Prior to it, last night police and forces in joint operation sealed down all shops in Wazirdand deal in weapons on plea that buying and selling of banned arms besides arms without license cannot be sold.
Led by arms association, Khyber chief Haji Muhammad Saeed, large number of weapons sellers initiated protest at Pak-Afghan highway.
The protestors were on the view that like other parts of the country, they have registered their business with the government and are doing legal trade of arms to earn a livelihood for their families.
Later on a joint meeting of President of arms dealers association Haji Muhammad Saeed,additional Deputy Commissioner(ADC)Noorwali Khan,Disitrct Police Officer(DPO)Khyber Muhammad Imran, Assistant Commissioner,Jamrud Shakeel Ahmad,tribal elders and forces officials held in which it was decided that search operation of arms markets will be carried out where every single shop will be checked and prohibited bore or illegal weapons will be confiscated.
It was also agreed that under a proper legal procedure arms business centers will be reopened in the area.
Speaking to the media persons DPO, Khyber Muhammad Imran said that for the last few months arms offences on police and forces have increases many folds that has inflicted human loss on the security agencies.
For restoration of durable peace it is inevitable to curtain unlawful business of arms, he added and said no one will be permitted to conduct illegal and without license dealing of arms in the district.
The security agencies also suspended arms business shops in Landi Kotal Bazaar.
