Arms smuggling bid foiled, 2 held


PESHAWAR: The Chamkani police on Thursday foiled an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of arms and ammunition near Motorway. According to SP Rural Zafar Ahmad Khan, actions are being taken against other criminals including arms and drug smuggling. During which, under the supervision of ASP Chamkani Syed Talal Ahmad Shah, SHO of Chamkani Ashfaq Khan along with other policemen foiled the attempt to smuggle a huge cache of arms and ammunition. Two suspects belonging to the inter-provincial arms smugglers group were arrested during a special operation on the motorway blockade. The arrested accused have been identified as Bakht Zaman and Noor Muhammad residents of Dara Adam Khel. Shinwari
The accused, who belong to the organized inter-provincial arms and ammunition smugglers group, were trying to smuggle weapons to other cities of the country through a vehicle.
During the operation, 24 rifles, 13 pistols and 8,000 different bore cartridges have also been recovered from the vehicle.
A case has been registered against the accused and investigation has been started from various angles.
