PML-N leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has said there is room in law for extending the service tenure of army chief but the announcement made by army chief for not seeking extension is good tradition.
NAB is a corrupt institution and if it remains then system in Pakistan will not work, he cautioned.
He said this while talking to media men on the occasion of his appearance in the Accountability Court (AC) Karachi Friday.
He held third year is going on but no progress has been made in the case. NAB has paralyzed life of people. Will NAB compensate the loss caused to these people. People went to jails and abandoned their business.
Berating NAB he said Javed Iqbal is unable to tell how much assets he has accumulated so far. Who sent the others to jail without allegation is unable to tell about his assets.
I have been saying since the very beginning that NAB should be abolished. Supreme Court (SC) should see NAB had done what in the last 30 years. A dictator had laid foundation of the NAB to serve his own interests.
He went on to say references are made on those who work. What reference will be made on those who had done no work.
Unluckily neither judge nor lawyer reads the constitution in our country, he underlined.
He reiterated NAB should be abolished as institution. We don’t want to see any one disqualified. The completion in politics should be done in electoral field.
To a question he said PML-N was of the view back door contacts always meet failure. 2018 elections are responsible for the problems facing the country.
Responding to a question on the appointment of new army chief he said the sitting army chief has already announced to retire on November 29. There is room in law for granting service extension to army chief. But Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa has himself said he does not want to seek extension.
Army chief will be appointed before November 29, he said adding this is routine appointment which should be done in time.
