Like other 17 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, all arrangements have been finalized in Khyber to conduct free and fair Local Bodies (LB) election to be scheduled on Sunday (today).
On Saturday morning officials of the Election Commission started handing over stationeries and other election related commodities to the presiding officers and their crew members and directed them to make sure of their arrival at their concerned polling stations on time.
According to the Khyber Election Commission, 91 polling stations have been set up in Landi Kotal among which eight have been declared most sensitive polling stations.
Extra-security arrangements have been planned by the security agencies and 700 police officials in addition with 70 quick response force personnel have been deployed at the polling stations to retain law and order situation during the polling.
Beside police officials Frontier Corp troops will also assume security measures at sensitive polling stations, Election Commission official informed.
Total registered voters in Landi Kotal is 163605 comprising 90172 are male while73433 are female voters.
On other hand as per Election Commission code of conduct, the public campaign of candidates ended at 12 pm on Friday night and Saturday was officially announced as an off day to finalize the LB election preparation.
To ensure peaceful LB election, the district administration imposed section 144 effective from today 20th of December, 2021.
