Assailants in PML-N MPA Bilal Yasin’s attack case ‘identified’

Lahore police claimed to have identified two suspects allegedly involved in attacking Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MPA Bilal Yasin in Lahore through safe city cameras.
The police said that no cameras were installed at the site of the attack, however, the police were able to track the two men on a motorcycle through the safe city cameras installed at a major thoroughfare at some distance.
“The suspects came in the range of the safe city cameras while fleeing from the spot,” they said and added that the police have not yet registered an FIR and would move forward after a statement from Bilal Yasin, who is currently out of danger and is receiving medical treatment.
The CCPO Lahore has also formed a body to probe the case of an attack on MPA Bilal Yasin.
Bilal Yasin, a Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA) of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) has sustained injuries in a gun attack carried out by unidentified assailants in Lahore on Saturday night.
The wounded lawmaker from PP-150 (Lahore-VII) Bilal Yasin was immediately shifted to Lahore’s Mayo Hospital.
MPA Yasin said that he was meeting people of his constituency as usual when two men wearing Dolphin police jackets appeared and started firing. He said it was quite unbelievable for him why did they shoot at him.
He said he had no enmity with anyone and usually he moved alone. He said that he asked the police to perform geofencing to apprehend the culprits.
The MPA said that police believed that he was the target. He thanked people who prayed for him.
The FIR of the incident was registered in the Data Darbar police station by Mr Yasin.
In the FIR, the MPA said that he came to his friend Muhammad Akram’s house with his friend Haji Liaquat on a motorcycle. He said he was standing outside his friend’s house along with his three friends when two unknown persons came on a Honda motorcycle. One of the riders dismounted the bike and came straight to him.
Yasin said that after hurling threat to kill him, the assailant opened fire on him. He said that he fired three bullets and after that the assailants ran away on their motorcycle.
Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar called Mr Yasin and inquired after his health. The MPA told him about his condition and also described the details of the incident.
On the other hand, PML-N leader Ayaz Sadiq visited the injured Yasin at the Intensive Care Unit of the Surgical Tower.
While talking to media, Sadiq informed that Mr Yasin’s operation was successful. He lamented the Punjab government for poor law and order situation deploring that an MPA was shot at in the provincial capital.
He held provincial government and Punjab IG responsible for deteriorating security situation.
Meanwhile, Punjab Assembly Speaker Ch Pervaiz Elahi condemned the attack on MPA Bilal Yasin calling it a dastardly act. He called upon the law enforcement agencies to arrest the assailants as soon as possible.
