Assembly committee seeks records of Dubai-Expo, artist’s welfare funds

The meeting of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly’s Standing Committee on Tourism, Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs sought expenditure details Dubai Expo 2022, establishment of playgrounds in tehsils levels project and progress about the provincial cultural policy 2018.
The meeting was chaired by Muhammad Idress and attended by provincial assembly lawmakers including Ehtsham Javed, Zubair Khan, Sardar Khan, Mir Kalam Wazir, Shagufta Malik and MPA Samira Shams.
Additional Secretary and Director General of the Tourism, Culture, Sports, Archaeology, Museums Affairs department, Assistant and Deputy Secretaries of Provincial Assembly, Director and Deputy Director of Culture and Juvenile Affairs, Assistant Advocate General, Section Officer of Law department and other relevant officers also participated in the meeting.
The committee directed the officials of Tourism, Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs department to furnish details of initiative taken for the welfare of artists’ community in the province in the next meeting.
He said the departments concerned should also present the details of funds worth Rs13 million spent on the welfare of artists under the Zinda Amin project of culture. The committee also sought records of Rs2.5 million spent for awarding a fixed honorarium to artists and activists in KP till 2018.
The officials concerned were directed to inform the committee about the actions taken for cultural activities in North Waziristan, sports playgrounds in Dir district, construction of stadiums, and the complete details regarding the steps required for tourism promotion in different districts of the province.
The assembly administration was directed by the committee to pay visits to the ongoing projects managed by the department in Chitral district and Dir district.
The members of the committee decided to convene next meeting on August 4.
