PESHAWAR
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Minister for Food and Science and Information Technology Atif Khan has said that in the three years of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government, the prices of petroleum products were raised by Rs 60 per litre while the current PDM government despite claiming to have economic experts increased Rs 60 per litre in just 45 days of their government dropped inflation bomb on the poor people.
The provincial minister clarified that former PTI government referred rising prices to global reasons but the incumbent government would give wrong statistics to the people in their lust for power.
He expressed these views while addressing a press conference along with former federal minister Ali Amin Gandapur and member provincial assembly Zahir Shah Toro here on Friday.
While criticizing the federal government, Atif Khan said that they used to argue that they can control price hike and questioned why their economic experts failed to overcome inflation rather they put burden on poor people by drastically increasing prices of petroleum products.
“Former Prime Minister Imran Khan in his recent interview talked about uniting Pakistan which was presented in a distorted way” extended Atif, adding PTI government has never talked about provincialism and linguistics.
He said that irresponsible statements of the federal ministers would led the country towards provincialism and political leaders should first think about what steps are needed for the country.
Atif Khan said that PTI government did not stop any party from exercising right to protest but federal interior minister was hurling threats; who was allegedly booked in murders cases.
Atif Khan further said that Rana Sanaullah will be held accountable for violence perpetrated against peaceful PTI workers during Haqiqi Azadi March.
The provincial minister extended that KP was not receiving wheat and flour for free rather pays to Punjab for the same.
He told that whenever PML-N government comes to power, supply of flour and wheat is banned, which causes increase in price of flour in KP.
“Wheat is not smuggled across the border from KP , however, federal government was responsible to stop the smuggling” added Atif.
In order to provide relief to the masses, Atif Khan said provincial cabinet has approved 20 KG bag of flour on Rs 980 from this month, for which 30 billion rupees has been allocated as subsidy.
Furthermore, the provincial government is giving Insaf Food Card to one million families under which Rs.2100 will be awarded to each family per month.
Talking to media, Atif Khan said that Imran Khan would unveil his plan of action for his party’s next march at a rally in Dir on Saturday.
Provincial minister asked every patriotic Pakistani to participate in the long march for getting rid of the imported government, saying that new government will be elected according to the aspirations of the people by holding fresh elections.
Talking to media, ex-federal minister Ali Amin slammed government for recent surge in petroleum products and claimed that PTI performed better in unfavorable conditions during its three years tenure. Mr. Gandapur requested Chief Justice of Pakistan to order investigation into the threatening letter.
