WAPDA HYDRO Union staged protest rally outside Mardan press club against the killing of Pesco employee in Swabi and gave a 3-day ultimatum to arrest the accused and warned that if the accused involved in the killing of lineman was not arrested in the first phase Swabi, in the second Mardan, while in the third phase, the power will be cut off in the provincial capital Peshawar.
The rally was led by Circle Chairman of Pakistan Wapda Hydroelectric Workers Union Mohammad Zubair Musa Khel, General Secretary Mohammad Humayun, Salman Ali, Syar Khan, Basit Khan, Central President Aurangzeb Kashmiris and others.
Large numbers of Pesco employees participated in the rally. Later on addressing to a news conference at Mardan press club Circle Chairman Muhammad Zubair Musakhel said that last day firing was done on the WAPDA recovery team in Swabi, in which the Hafiz-ul-Quran Kamranullah was killed, a lineman Muhammad Hussain and a passerby were also injured.
He added that the WAPDA employees and the people are side by side with each other but under a conspiracy, we are being fought against the people. He argued that WAPDA employees aren’t policy makers and do not set electricity tariffs.
We ourselves are against the bad policies of the government. He added that WAPDA employees are fighting an unknown enemy in the form of electric current.
Our colleagues are losing their lives in accidents every day and now the target killers are behind us. Zubair Musakhel said that the Government should remedy the situation and WAPDA employees should be protected.
He argued that He said that the exchequer is losing billions of rupees due to IPPs, these are the agreements of capitalists and landlords and the public is having to suffer the consequences.
He also demanded the Chief Executive WAPDA to play his full role in this matter.
He demanded an impartial investigation of the Swabi incident through scientific and modern tools and said that the real culprits should be arrested within three days, otherwise the employees will come out on the streets and electricity will be cut off in stages across the province in the first phase in Swabi in the second phase in Mardan and In the third phase the electricity of provincial capital Peshawar will be cut off.
