PESHAWAR: An armed attack on a police check post in Hangu left one constable injured, while security forces shot dead one of the attackers. District Police Officer (DPO) Hangu, Khan Zaib Khan on Sunday said the incident occurred at the Bugto Check Post, where unidentified armed men opened fire on police personnel. In retaliation, police returned the fire, killing one of the assailants on the spot. Following the attack, a search operation was launched in the surrounding area to locate any accomplices or further threats. The DPO added that the situation is now under control. It is worth noting that on Friday last, a bomb blast in Hangu claimed the lives of SP (Operations) Asad Zubair and two police officials, highlighting the recent surge in militant activities in the region.
