Australian envoy expresses solidarity with Pakistan

Australian High Commissioner to Pakistan Neil Hawkins has expressed deep sorrow over the devastating floods that have claimed more than 200 lives across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and other regions of the country. In a message on social media, the envoy said he was “saddened by the tragic flash floods across Pakistan, claiming over 200 lives across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and beyond—including brave rescuers in a helicopter crash.”
The High Commissioner reaffirmed Australia’s support and sympathy for the people of Pakistan during this difficult time. “Australia stands in solidarity with our Pakistani friends at this tough time. Our thoughts are with all affected,” he added. The recent floods have caused widespread devastation, damaging homes, infrastructure, and livelihoods, while rescue and relief operations continue in the affected areas.
Meanwhile, the Government of Japan has also offered condolences to Pakistan over the loss of lives in floods. On August 16, regarding the damages caused by the flood in the northern part of Pakistan, Mr. ISHIBA Shigeru, Prime Minister of Japan, has expressed his sincere condolences to Mr. Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Prime Minister, Islamic Republic of Pakistan over the loss of precious lives.
In his message of condolences PM Ishiba said:”I am deeply saddened to learn that many precious lives were lost in the flood that occurred in the northern part of Pakistan. On behalf of the Government of Japan, I pray for the souls of the victims and extend my deepest condolences to the bereaved families. I would also like to express my sincere wishes for the swift recovery of the injured.”
