Awareness walk highlights importance of 7th digital Census

PESHAWAR: The Census Division Peshawar office in collaboration with the provincial department of local government, elections and rural development on Thursday organized a grand public awareness walk to highlight the importance of the 7th national digital Census . The walk, participated by people from various walks of life, started from Statistics Office State Life Building and passed through Fakhr Alam Road, Green Shadi Hall, State Bank Building and Cantt Railway Station and culminated at PPC. Government employees, traders and industrialists, scholars, lawyers, students and teachers participated in the walk. During the walk, the participants held placards on the importance of the 7th national and the country’s first digital census. They also raised various slogans on the usefulness of the census, while Deputy Director General of Statistics Shaukat Ali, Census Commissioner Akhtar and Secretary Coordination Sajid Gul addressed the participants at the end of the walk to elaborate the importance and usefulness of the recent census. President of the PPPC M Riaz and other senior journalists on the occasion also met the organizers and participants of the walk and assured them of the full cooperation of the media fraternity in making the census campaign a success.
Meanwhile, minister for local government, elections and rural development Sardar Faisal Amin Gandapur has appealed to the citizens to play their due role in spreading awareness about the digital Census and the process of it.
In a statement, he said that the provincial government and relevant agencies would fully cooperate with the Statistics Department to make 7th Census successful.
The provincial minister said that under this first digital census in the country’s history, the statistics department and the officials of the provincial government will go to the field and get the complete data of the citizens under the online system.
